Ferry Command Insignia and Badges

by R.G. Pelley

At the beginning Ferry Command was a civilian operation made up of volunteers from all over the world. After becoming militarized the original operation had now become part of the RAF. The USAAF also ran their own Ferry Command to re-supply their own bases after entering the war.

This apparently was the first pilot cap badge of the original Ferry Command. When asked what the FC stood for, most ferry command pilots would reply "Fighting Civilians".
